McPherson to Recognize Manufacturing Day

McPherson to Recognize Manufacturing Day

The national designated day is Friday October 3, but McPherson will celebrate and recognize McPherson County manufacturing throughout the month of October.

Manufacturing Day was created to correct public perception about manufacturing environments, which include highly trained, well-paid employees who work on state of the art equipment. Manufacturing Day addresses the many misperceptions by giving all manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show exactly what manufacturing is, and what it isn’t.

This change in perception is the first step in addressing one of the main challenges faced by manufacturers today – a gap in skilled labor. By giving manufacturers an occasion to share what they do and an opportunity to connect directly with job seekers and students to begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face. This designated month of October gives the general public an opportunity to educate themselves on the products that are being made right in their own community.

Viega LLC, located at 2211 Viega Avenue invites students, educators, customers, suppliers and the general public to attend their open house . The Viega story and tour will begin at 8:00 a.m. every half hour and will last approximately 1 hour. RSVP’s are required by going to www. mfgday.com and completing the registration section.
