Member Spotlight- McPherson Psychological Associates
McPherson Psychological Associates (MPA) recently celebrated the expansion of its offices with a Chamber Ribbon Cutting at its location at 114 N. Main Street in McPherson. The practice provides compassionate, individualized mental health care for children, adults, and families throughout the Central Kansas area.
Chamber Ambassador Casey Justus welcomed attendees and thanked the community for its strong turnout in support of the growing practice. Speaking to the MPA team, Justus said, “Thanks for investing in our community,” noting the importance of the programs the organization has provided for the public. “Just investing in the community in that way is so important and we really appreciate it,” she added.
Chamber President Kayla Moritz also addressed the gathering, expressing enthusiasm for what the expansion means for the organization’s future. “On behalf of the Chamber we want to say how excited we are for McPherson Psychological Associates and this move and what this means for their business,” Moritz said. Dr. Kathie Ward, licensed psychologist, clinical director and owner of McPherson Psychological Associates, reflected on the organization’s rapid growth since opening its original 1,700-square-foot office next door in 2022. “Many of you came to support us when we opened our 1700 square foot office right next door on September 8th of 2022 and it seemed cavernous to us at that time,” Ward said. “I never could have dreamed that we would amazingly outgrow it.” She also thanked the McPherson community, the Chamber, and Network Kansas for their support as the practice expanded into its new space.
Ward emphasized that the growth of the practice reflects the dedication of the entire staff. “None of this would be possible at all without an amazing team of clinicians to carry forward this mission to bring excellent mental health care to McPherson County and beyond,” she said. MPA currently has six clinicians on staff, providing services ranging from psychotherapy and couples counseling to play therapy for young children. The team includes a Spanish-speaking clinician, a Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist who performs psychological testing and assessments for conditions such as autism, ADHD, adult food disorders, and dementia, as well as a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Practitioner who provides medication management.
McPherson City Commissioner Gary Mehl praised the organization’s impact, saying, “This is incredible to come here and to see these people for issues you might have or someone you know might have. It’s just same as going to a doctor with a cold. This is the place to come to.” MPA’s hours are Monday-Friday by appointment, as well as evening and weekend hours – also available by appointment.
