Success Through a Different Lens
After months of planning, oodles of incredible sponsors, and a full slate of enthusiastic golfers, we were off to a beautiful Friday at the Chamber Classic golf tournament. The tee-box sponsors had set up their tents and were laughing right along with the golfers, who were “willingly” completing the creatively unique games at each stop. All of a sudden, the storm rolled in and it was a different story. But the same storm that ultimately ended the chance of finishing 18 holes, was also an uplifting moment of community. I witnessed about 200 people helping secure sponsor tents, learning how many people can jump on a golf cart, and working together to keep everyone safe. With standing room only in the clubhouse, we admitted that lightning and excessive rainfall would prevent the tournament from continuing, so prizes were randomly given out and lively conversations continued. Disappointments were taken in stride and positive sportsmanship was seen in all its glory.
I would definitely chalk 2023 up to a short but successful tournament, filled with opportunities to build friendships, connect with community businesses, and to demonstrate the value of kindness.
