Member Spotlight – Turkey Creek Golf Course
As the temperatures rise and the days grow longer, the team at Turkey Creek Golf Course is getting ready to welcome golfers back for another exciting season. Located at 1000 Fox Run Road in McPherson, the course is buzzing with fresh energy and new upgrades. Clubhouse Manager Collin Duckworth is excited to share the latest additions, including a brand-new fleet of 2025 golf carts equipped with comfortable seats and state-of-the-art GPS systems. These high-tech carts allow golfers to easily check yardages on the course without the need for range finders, making the playing experience smoother and more enjoyable.
A major transformation also took place behind the scenes over the past several months. For years, the irrigation system at Turkey Creek had been a recurring challenge, with leaks steadily increasing—from 25 a decade ago to a staggering 70 in 2024. Thanks to the support and investment from the City Commission, a complete overhaul of the system began in September 2024 and was just completed last week. Operations Superintendent Jason Bushbom expressed relief and gratitude for the much-needed upgrade, which promises to significantly improve course conditions and reduce maintenance headaches.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or just getting into the sport, Turkey Creek has options for everyone, including leagues for seniors, men, women, as well as junior golf opportunities. Regarding junior golf programs Collin Duckworth, Clubhouse Manager said, “Another thing we are introducing this year is called PGA Junior League.” This will have a division for 6-13 year olds. Collin added, “With the growth and the amount of golfers that we’re having especially with junior golfers, we keep on adding things to keep them busy and it’s a lot of fun. It’s another competitive thing to add for them. Something unique that we haven’t had in McPherson yet.”
Beyond the greens, Turkey Creek Golf Course continues to enhance the overall golfing experience. The course offers a pro shop stocked with essentials like gloves, hats, apparel, and even “experienced” golf balls. Their driving range, now newly irrigated, will also be transformed to mirror the quality of the course itself, with lush fairway-style grass. Ready to play?
