Member Spotlight – The Stone Chimney
McPherson’s beloved home décor destination, The Stone Chimney, is celebrating a major milestone — 20 years in business as of September 1, 2025. Nestled at 1500 E. First Street, this charming shop has become a go-to spot for unique gifts, seasonal décor, candles, jewelry, and so much more. Manager Jana Bandy shared, “We are celebrating 20 years as of September 1st. So, Labor Day this year, Monday was our 20-year anniversary.” She added, “We are very thankful for that time and that we’re able to continue to go, I would say largely in part because of our great customers… probably 75-80% of our customers do not live in McPherson County. People drive here to come shop and it’s awesome. I mean that’s why we’re here.” (So, if you live in McPherson and you haven’t been to The Stone Chimney, you need to go check out this treasure of a store!)
The Stone Chimney had humble beginnings. Owner Toni Bandy recalls that it all started with a building that sat empty for a few years until she and a few friends began tossing around the idea of opening a small retail venture.
“We actually started out as a little part-time venture. We were just going to do it part-time and it kind of exploded from there!” Toni said. What began as a “what if” conversation has grown into a full-fledged business, largely thanks to their dedicated team. “Yes, without the people who work here, I can’t say enough about them. They make the store,” Toni emphasized.
What makes The Stone Chimney stand out is not only its wide range of offerings — from fall décor and custom florals to candles and Lampe Berger fragrance products — but also its personalized customer service. “Someone might bring in a special vase or an oil can or something that is sentimental… and they want something made up in it. We will do that for you,” Jana explained. Whether you’re searching for a gift, a splash of seasonal color, or a custom arrangement, The Stone Chimney remains a treasured destination — one worth the drive, no matter where you’re coming from.
