Each winter the Agriculture Committee organizes the Farm Forum. The evening dinner brings the business and agriculture community together to learn about topics that affect both areas of business. In addition, the Farm Family of the Year and Friend of Agriculture are recognized for their contribution in the agriculture field. The McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee hosts the Farm Forum and schedules presenters to provide relevant and updated information about the business of agriculture. It’s an event to bring rural community leaders, business representatives and educators together. We appreciate your interest and support of the Ag committees’ efforts to provide an educational program and to fund the McPherson AFA scholarship.
The 35th annual Farm Forum will be held on Monday, February 24th, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Kansas Avenue beginning at 6:00 pm. The evening event includes dinner, key note speaker Mark Potter on depression and mental challenges, and recognition of the 2019 Farm Family of the Year and the 2019 Friend of Agriculture Award.
The Chamber Agriculture Committee is very involved with keeping the importance of agriculture in the forefront. Since 2000, the Agriculture Committee has funded an annual $2,500 scholarship to a McPherson County high school senior who plans to pursue an agriculture-related degree. The Agriculture Committee partners with Agriculture Future of America who provides matching funds for significant scholarship awards. The committee hosts several events throughout the year – Rural Appreciation Picnic, Mac County 5K Round-Up, Farm Forum and is a partner in the Ag in the Classroom.
