It’s Electric! Stanion Electric that is. A family owned independent electrical distributer that began in 1961 in Pratt, KS. Pratt is still the headquarters of Stanion Wholesale Electric and where you will find Vice President John Keller, grandson of the founders Bobbe and Jud Stanion. During Chamber Connections, John told attendees that the business has expanded to 17 locations in Kansas and one in Liberty Missouri, employing around 220 people corporate wide. Lucky for McPherson, Stanion Electric chose to open a store on Elm Street, McPherson in 1985. Then in 1997, they completed the new building and moved to 811 N. Hickory, where Stanion Electric can be found today.

McPherson branch manager Jay Pavlik is probably a familiar face to all of you since he has been with Stanion Electric since 1993. He reminded everyone that although Stanion Electric is a wholesale distributer, they are also open for retail sales too. Their most popular retail product lines are Milwaukee and Klein tools. Stanion Electric has a lot of neat gadgets, light bulbs (so you can switch out those old fluorescents for new LED ones) wiring (although you might want to leave that to the electricians) janitorial supplies, hardware, connectors and a list of products that would make your head spin. Check it out at www.stanion.com or visit Stanion Electric, 811 N. Hickory (accessed from First Street). They are open from 7:30-5:00 Monday-Friday, so stop by and get familiar with all they have to offer. Get connected on Facebook or call 620-241-7906 to visit with the knowledgeable staff.

Another neat tidbit from Chamber Connections is learning about their internships and the educational curriculum that they sponsor. Stanion Wholesale Electric partnered with other business and teamed up with Pratt Community College to start the Modern Distribution Sales & Management certificate and degree program in the fall of 2018. This program is great way to learn the skills needed for several career options and is paired with internships to gain first-hand knowledge in their field. Stanion Electric is connecting knowledge with potential future employees, a win-win.
