Member Spotlight- The Omega Project Women’s Center

“God provides when we need it” said Pastor David Case, founder of The Omega Project. This sentiment was the overall belief of how The Omega Project Women’s Center came to completion. The Women’s Center at 201 S. Chestnut needs a few finishing touches but is “basically complete” with hopes to be open this summer. After several years of dedication, the financial assistance and volunteer help of numerous churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals, the Women’s Center will soon be assisting women and their children in need. David said it is “incredible how God has pulled it together,” from the initial commitment to purchase the building, financial donations coming in just when needed, individuals in the program with the skill set to do what the center needed and the community support though out the project.

The Omega Project Women’s Center is not intended to be a long-term shelter but rather an immediate shelter to allow for a smooth transition from homelessness to more stable and permanent situation. The main floor of the Women’s Center has a 3, 4 & 5-person bedroom and can assist up to 12 people for up to a week stay. The upstairs accommodates a longer-term residential space developed for house leaders and women in the program who will also assist with cleaning and daily needs of the center instead of having to hire staff or rely on volunteers. These women will make a commitment to be at The Omega Project Women’s Center for 12-18 months as they work their way through the program and focus on recovery.

The Omega Project has impacted the lives of many and will continue to be a tremendous asset to McPherson. Shannon gave a heart-felt testimony of how The Omega Project has “changed her life and enhanced her God experience” and said she is “blessed beyond imagination.” Shannon’s story is one of many whom The Omega Project has assisted in the process of Heart Change; making changes toward turning core values into a positive or healthy aspect of their lives.
