Member Spotlight – ReUse It Center

The ReUse-It Center celebrated their 10th anniversary in November of this year and has occupied their current 30,000 sq. ft. space at 120 S. 81 Bypass, since 2015. During Chamber Connections, Randy Clark, Board Chairman for the ReUse It Center, shared information about their history, purpose, hours, and volunteer opportunities.

The purpose of this nonprofit ministry is to: “Collect and sell new and used donated building materials at reduced prices to anyone who could use them, save landfill space by reusing materials, and support community non-profit organizations and Mennonite Central Committee with proceeds.”

If you are clearing out extra goodies this winter, you can donate working appliances, used and new cabinets, used and new non-upholstered furniture, building materials, hardware, light fixtures, and bathroom fixtures. Check out all the goodies at the ReUse It Center during their hours of operation: Tuesday 1-3pm, Thursday 4-6 pm, and Saturday from 9-1.

The ReUse It Center currently has 86 wonderful volunteers that donate their time (14,000 hours) and expertise while also enjoying time together. If you have a few hours to join them, contact the ReUse It Center at 620-245-0122. “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” – Author Unknown. We found out during the Chamber Connections that the ReUse It Center was able to donate almost $60,000 last year to 18 local charities! We are grateful for all those involved with the ReUse It Center and the impact you have made by creating a space for daily fellowship, and the incredible donations to local charities.
