Member Spotlight – Safehope

A strong show of community support filled the room August 28th as the McPherson Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Safehope’s new outreach office at 121 W. Marlin Street, Suite 101. This milestone marks an important step forward for the organization, which provides free, confidential services to survivors and secondary victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Safehope continues to be a lifeline for individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence across McPherson, Harvey, and Marion Counties. The organization offers a wide range of services, including one-on-one advocacy, emotional support, safety planning, and assistance with basic needs such as utility bills and transportation. Through the Resiliency Center, Safehope also provides therapy and healing resources. Additional programs include youth mentorship, support groups, and emergency shelter, all designed to empower survivors and prevent future violence.

With a growing presence in Central Kansas, Safehope is expanding its outreach to ensure more people are aware of the resources available to them. “Making others aware that Safehope is a resource here in McPherson to help survivors and secondary victims through advocacy and support is key,” said Safehope’s Co-Executive Director, Marla Schepmann. Outreach efforts include in-person support as well as community education, helping to break the silence surrounding abuse and bring essential services to those in need.

Community members can support Safehope in several ways—from donations to spreading awareness.
