Meet the Candidates: Local School Board Forum to Spotlight Education Priorities
The McPherson Chamber of Commerce Civic Awareness Committee invites the community to a School Board Candidate Forum on Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 pm at The Cedars Event Center, 1019 Cedars Drive. The forum will also be streamed live on the Chamber’s Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.
All candidates who filed for the three open school board positions have been invited to participate. The four candidates include Blane Janssen, Lara Vanderhoof, Perry McCabe, and Sherrie Sparks. Each will begin with a brief opening statement highlighting their motivations and qualifications.
The forum will follow a moderated question-and-answer format. Audience members may submit questions upon arrival; all questions will be screened for clarity and relevance to all candidates. Each candidate will have one minute to respond. Questions will not be accepted via Facebook.
This is not a debate—it’s a chance to listen, learn, and lead with your vote. The Chamber does not endorse candidates, but it proudly hosts this forum to empower our community with knowledge and civic connection.
Meet Mayoral Candidate Jim Loving
Following the school board candidate forum, Jim Loving, candidate for Mayor of McPherson, has been invited to share his vision, qualifications, and motivations behind his candidacy. This brief address will offer attendees valuable insight into the priorities and experience as they relate to our community.
