Member Spotlight- McPherson Arts Alliance Art Gallery

“Providing opportunities for appreciation, education and participation in the arts” is what the McPherson Arts Alliance is all about. While artists showcase their creativity at the Art Gallery, 223 S. Main, some of them also share their talent through art classes. Art classes are offered in the Mary Anderson Arts Center, located in the lower level of the McPherson Opera House. Estelle Rengberger recently taught “Let Go & Create” classes on brushless acrylic painting. Nicky Bowers has taught “Paint n’ Sip” classes where a group gathers for a fun time with themed canvas paintings. Ceramics classes have been offered for participants to learn basic techniques to create various pottery shapes and glazing methods. According to Estelle, their art classes encompasses a variety of art forms depending on who is willing to teach. Be watching their Facebook page for upcoming classes. They are making plans for adult classes, the popular Kids Summer Art Camp and even a special class for grandparents and their grandchildren.

Mary Hughes, McPherson Arts Alliance president was unable to attend the Chamber Connections, but Estelle Renberger shared information about the history of the Art Gallery which began 22 years ago on N. Main. The McPherson Arts Alliance, a non-profit organization, was formed in 2012 from two art organizations, the McPherson Arts Council and the Visual Arts Alliance of McPherson (VAAM). You don’t have to be an artist to join this great group of people who “come together to expand learning and enjoyment of the arts.” Contact them at 620-241-5774 or visit their Facebook to get connected.
