A crowd mingled shoulder-to-shoulder to support Jamie Whitehouse and her therapy practice, Advocate Counseling & Therapeutic Services (ACTS) of Kansas as she hosted a Ribbon Cutting and Chamber Connection January 11th to introduce her new office space at 823 N. Main Street.

The new location has space to fulfill Whitehouse’s dream of sharing the office building with other health and wellness professionals so that clients can be served mind, body, and spirit.

Having been a marriage and family therapist for almost 13 years, Whitehouse previously taught at Central Christian College and operated her therapy practice out of an office in the Free Methodist Church next door to the college.

“I love being able to meet people in hard spaces and getting to walk them through traumas, through hardships, through life’s difficulties, through struggles in marriages, family and parenting struggles, all the fun things in life,” Whitehouse said.

For the last eight years, Whitehouse has had interns from Wichita’s Friends University commute to McPherson to work with her, and this year she had six applications for two available positions.

“I was like, gosh, if only I had more space,” she said. “I’m really wanting to grow. And I had this dream [of sharing a space with other wellness professionals]. And this building came open. And I prayed a lot about it, and it was just… what timing!”

After some weeks of painting and renovations, ACTS of Kansas started seeing clients at the new location on October 1st. Whitehouse and her interns occupy some of the offices, and an organization called Journey Well occupies another office. Several more offices are available for rent. If you think your practice might be a good fit or you’d like more information, call Whitehouse at 785-819-6905.
