Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty celebrated their transition from JP Weigand & Sons with a Chamber ribbon cutting on October 22nd, marking a new chapter for the McPherson real estate office. Six experienced agents work out of the McPherson branch, joining a network of more than 450 agents serving seven counties across Central Kansas—and an impressive 2,000+ professionals nationwide.
Located at 1348 N. Main Street, the office continues to provide trusted real estate services under its new name and banner.
Chamber Ambassador Joe Johnston kicked off the celebration by welcoming attendees and noting the positive energy surrounding McPherson. “I listen to all the noises we’re hearing right now in this community,” he said, “and that tells me that there’s pride showing.”
Chamber Past President Carlyn Lemon (Peoples Bank & Trust) presented Broker Kendra Kuchta with the ceremonial First Dollar of Profit and thanked her for helping make McPherson feel like home. “Thank you for being in the business of bringing people home and bringing people to our community,” Lemon said.
Kuchta shared that the local realty first opened during the pandemic under the JP Weigand & Sons name. When JP Weigand sold its residential division earlier this year, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty was chosen as the best fit for the future. “It’s been amazing—a great ride, and I’m super excited to be part of it,” Kuchta said. “Berkshire Hathaway has the best education and support system I’ve ever seen. If an agent doesn’t know what they’re doing, it’s not because Berkshire didn’t give them the opportunity.”
Regional President Patty Sanders expressed excitement about joining the McPherson community, calling it “one of the nicest, cleanest, most beautiful cities” she’s seen among Kansas towns. Mayor Tom Brown added his congratulations, noting the significance of welcoming “a world conglomerate” to McPherson.
