Member Spotlight- Brookdale Senior Living
Chamber members recently gathered at Brookdale Senior Living of McPherson, a 31-apartment assisted living community located at 1460 N. Main Street, for a Chamber Connections coffee. Attendees enjoyed learning more about the facility, recent renovations, and the services that make Brookdale a special place for residents to call home.
According to Breanna Bieker, Sales Director, one of the biggest factors that sets Brookdale apart is its commitment to aging in place. “It can be scary and hard on residents and families to make another transition after assisted living as care needs increase,” said Bieker. “Our facility keeps that from happening and can accommodate residents who need higher levels of care.”
Brookdale’s welcoming atmosphere helps residents feel comfortable and truly at home. Many Chamber members attended the event to learn more about Brookdale and show their support for this valued community partner.

Three years ago, the community completed renovations of all non-apartment areas and has now finished approximately 95% of apartment renovations. Improvements include updated lighting, fresh paint, new carpeting, and kitchen upgrades. Currently, one studio apartment is available and will be ready for occupancy once renovations are complete.
Residents enjoy a full calendar of activities designed to encourage fun, socialization, and engagement. One clear favorite is Bingo. “Our residents would play Bingo every day if they could,” said Karen Crupp, Executive Director. “We have great prizes!”
Other popular activities include arts and crafts, Jeopardy, and participation from a local Bunko group. Brookdale also supports the community by hosting the Senior Center’s monthly Bingo event, providing both snacks and prizes. In addition, dedicated volunteers regularly visit to play card games with residents. For those who enjoy spending time outdoors, Brookdale offers a beautiful patio area where residents can relax, enjoy fresh air, and visit with friends and family.
Brookdale hosts a monthly caregiver support group at 2 pm the 1st Thursday of every month. The goal is to bring people together who may be experiencing similar challenges. They discuss topics like emotional coping, daily stress management, and family dynamics, and partner with a local social worker who attends and provides additional resources and support. They are also excited to welcome the community back for their third annual Friends and Family Day that coincides with the Trick or Treat Main Street event. The public is invited to stop in the evening of October 29th for some additional candy and to visit residents and the facility.
