Member Spotlight – First Bank Kansas

First Bank Kansas started in 1961 in Salina, Ks where their main location is today. First Bank Kansas also has locations in Abilene, Ellsworth, Lindsborg, Hutchinson and McPherson. They came to McPherson in 1996 and was located down south by Neighbors Café. In 2015 they merged locations to better serve their customers and are now located at 1301 N. Main St.

“First Bank Kansas is small enough to give you great personal service and large enough to give you services you expect from a larger bank,” said Kendra Hopp, Branch Manager & BP of Loans. “Safety of deposit is top priority, but along with that is providing exceptional customer service which is not possible without a great team of people.”

Kendra Hopp has been with First Bank Kansas for seven years. “What I love about my job is the ability to provide great customer service and provide personalized loans for customers,” said Kendra. “Along with the flexibility to work with customers through all walks of life whether it’s their first car, first home purchase, refinancing and even starting or expanding their business.”

“We are excited that we get to offer so many kinds of checking accounts, saving accounts and CDs to our customers,” said Courtney Church, Branch Office Supervisor. “We’re excited about our BaZing Checking account that combines everyday checking with local discounts and benefits, which includes shopping, dining, cell phone protection, and roadside assistance.”

Landon Shaw, First Bank’s Regional Ag & Commercial Lender, may be new to banking, but certainly is no stranger to Agriculture. Landon has worked as a manager for a feed yard as well as an account manager/buyer for a large nation-wide food company. “If you talk to the First Bank Kansas team you will hear them talk about a relationship banking style. Their focus is establishing a long-lasting relationship with our customers,” said Landon.

“We are proud of our McPherson Team,” said Kent Buer, President/Chief Executive Officer/Chairman of the board. “They are really starting to knock it out of the park with the teamwork and I couldn’t be more pleased. First Bank Kansas is good at home loans, small business and agriculture. We have been an Ag bank for decades and we are not going away from that. On top of being a $400 Million bank we also have Wealth Services through Advantage Trust Company which is an employee owned cinerary with about $800 Million in assets under management. I can’t say enough about what is happening in our McPherson office and the community.”
