Member Spotlight – JAR Performance Automotive

JAR Performance Automotive has come a long way since opening its doors in 2016 with one technician. They built their clientele, won numerous awards, and were featured in magazines based on their community involvement and the services they provide their customers. Within a couple years, it was clear they would need to move from their Ash & Sutherland location and expand the business to accommodate growing demand.

It was at this expanded location at 519 N. Main that JAR hosted a McPherson Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting September 8th. JAR owner Jeff Reitz said they closed on the building in May of 2022 and started extensive renovations shortly after. The Sutherland shop was air conditioned, and he was adamant that the new one would be too for the technicians so he and his wife, Ashton, spent the entire week of Thanksgiving 2022 on manlifts putting fiberglass insulation into the ceilings and then over the holidays did all the drywall as well to get everything ready for air conditioning.

In addition, the former Ford dealership built in 1945 got new concrete floors, all new electrical, a new ventilation system, and a 14,000 pound alignment rack to accommodate vehicles as large as the Bluestem PACE busses. JAR moved into the Main Street location in February.

In addition to major mechanical services, a dedicated preventative maintenance department provides same- or next-day oil changes, fluid flushes, and tire services. There is now a busy team of nine keeping customers’ cars running smoothly. If something unexpected should occur within 12 months of any service, whether you purchase a $1 light bulb or a $10,000 engine, customers are eligible for free ACDelco roadside assistance. JAR also has the highest warranty in the nation at 36-months, 36,000 miles.

“Our primary goal is peace of mind,” Jeff said. “We want to make sure that when you leave, the job’s done right.”
