Member Spotlight- McPherson Healthcare Foundation & McPherson Hospital

The McPherson Healthcare Foundation office transitioned to the McPherson Hospital in March of 2015 with new director of development, Amy Bower. The “in-house” location helps to keep the Foundation in touch with what is going on at the hospital and working together. The McPherson Healthcare Foundation also partners with the McPherson County Community Foundation. Bower was appreciative of the recent fall auction success which raised about $75,000, moving the McPherson Healthcare Foundation closer to their $5 million Caring for the Future capital campaign goal. With continued community support, the remaining $500,000 can be raised to begin Phase 1- construction of new clinic space for physicians and convenience for patients. Because of the team effort of the Foundation, several boards and existing commitments, the McPherson Healthcare Foundation will be awarded a $750,000 challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation, once the funding goal is reached and construction is completed. Fundraising, grants and the county-wide ½ cent sales tax all share a common message of community support to provide the best health care possible. The sales tax funds are used for “brick and mortar”, renovating existing hospital areas to accommodate new providers; “taking care of employees” with recent pay increases to align with KHA “market” income and lastly to invest in the community by keeping medical equipment and emergency areas up to date with plans to update the surgery area soon.

Rob Monical, president and CEO of McPherson Hospital also shared his appreciation of the community and their continued support. Monical, who came on board in 2011, has already seen a lot of growth within the hospital with 100 new employees and 17 new physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Some of these new providers are because of Family Practice Associates merging with the McPherson Hospital on August 1st of 2016, others are recruits to fill much needed services. Monical introduced several providers including Bret E. Heskett, MD, FACOG, who joined the family of physician clinics to offer OB/GYN healthcare.  Find a list of McPherson Hospital physicians at www.mcphersonhospital.org  and be sure to like them on Facebook to stay up to date on hospital happenings.
