Prairie View continues to serve the mental health needs of communities across central Kansas with four locations in Newton, Hillsboro, Wichita, and here in McPherson – where its office is located at 1102 Hospital Drive. The organization focuses on providing personalized, accessible, and coordinated behavioral health care. Patrick Flaming, Chief Access & Crisis Officer, explained that Prairie View follows the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, a transition encouraged by the State of Kansas. “Two of the primary pillars or areas of focus with the CCBHC model of care are accessibility and care coordination,” Flaming said. “In all the programs and services that we provide, we focus on those two areas to make sure that we’re meeting the needs of those in the community.”

He added that Prairie View served more than 1,200 new individuals last year, noting that “17% of those physically came to this office (McPherson), and 33% of all new folks seeking services were residents of McPherson County.”

In addition to expanding access to care, Prairie View is preparing to host its Denim & Diamonds Gala & Auction on Saturday, March 21, at the Wild Prairie Event Center in Newton. Collin Munson, Marketing Officer, highlighted what attendees can expect. “We have Christian Manahl being our host, Jeremy Nunes being our comedian at the event, and we’ll have live music from Hot Club KC coming down here to play music for us,” Munson said. Proceeds from the event will support initiatives such as AgAssist for rural communities, Mental Health First Aid training, behavioral urgent care, and school-based services across Harvey, McPherson, Sedgwick counties, and Hillsboro. Tickets and table reservations can be purchased through Prairie View’s Facebook page.

The Gala will also feature a silent auction, with online bidding opening about two weeks prior to the event. Community Relations Coordinator Brad Schmidt shared some of the items up for grabs, saying, “We’ve got great things. We’ve got a Top Golf package and a bunch of different gift baskets. I think St. Louis Cardinals tickets are on the Silent Auction, as well as a raffle for a 5-night stay in Las Vegas that includes accommodation and show.” Looking ahead, Prairie View is guided by its 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, which emphasizes being trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and resilient. As Flaming explained, the organization aims to expand their industry leadership through Innovation and excellence, provide integrated person-centered care while fostering recovery, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring financial stewardship — all in support of its mission to deliver innovative, meaningful, life-changing health care to Kansans.
