Agriculture Committee Awards Scholarships
Congratulations to Kaci Rempe of Inman who won the $3,200 2011 Agriculture Future of America Scholarship. The $1,600 Leadership Conference Scholarship was awarded to Karsen Brown of Inman. Both student plan to attend Kansas State University and study equine veterinary study. These awards are made possible due to the efforts of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committees “When Pigs Fly BBQ Contest & Fly In: Since 2000 the committee has raised over $34,000 and provided scholarship funding to 15 McPherson County students pursuing an ag-related field of study.
Agriculture Committee members are: Jeff Smith, Chair, Doyle Davidson, Terry Lacy, Armin Nelson, Representative Don Schroeder, Cindy Baldwin, Linda Helmer, Dennis Friesen, Norlan Ferguson, Tom Chandler, Rev. Harold Nelson, Joe Pavlosky, Jay Warner, Delbert Schrag and Dale Ladd.
AFA honored the McPherson Chamber of Commerce as a 10 year community partner during the Leader in Agriculture Award dinner recently.
